U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday, and the S&P 500 index stayed above 1,100 for a second day, after an upbeat outlook from FedEx and encouraging home sales.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 100.81 points, or 0.97 percent, to end unofficially at 10,525.43. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 12.35 points, or 1.12 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,115.01. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 26.96 points, or 1.19 percent, to close unofficially at 2,296.43.
