U.S. stocks had mixed results Friday; General Electric (NYSE: GE) led the way among blue chip stocks with a stronger-than-expected earnings report, while financial sector stocks turned in mixed results.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day up 49.04 points, or 0.41 percent, while the S&P 500 Index rose 3.09 points, or 0.24 percent.

The Nasdaq Index fell 14.75 points, or 0.55 percent.

The Dow closed with another week of positive gains, up 88.02 points, or 0.75 percent, while the S&P finished up slightly at 1283, or 0.04 percent. The Nasdaq slipped 42.94 points, or 1.6 percent.

Bonds rose slightly Friday as the 10-year Treasury yield slipped to 3.42 percent.

Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) lost 5.96 points, or 1.8 percent today.Google, Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) lost 14.94 points, or 2.4 percent. General Electric rose 7.1 percent, while Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) lost 1.9%. Exxon Mobile Corp. (NYSE:XOM) gained 1.58 percent, as gas prices topped at $3.10 per gallon this week.

Investors look ahead next week to the FOMC statement.
