Gus and Angel Episode 6
Gus (Miguel Gomez, left) and Angel (Joaquín Cosio, right) are expected to finally become allies in episode 6 of "The Strain." FX

Kelly (Natalie Brown) may have found the perfect opportunity to not only get to her son Zach (Max Charles) and turn him, but also to hit Eph (Corey Stoll) where it hurts. The moment “The Strain” has been building towards since episode 1 looks like it’s going to finally happen in episode 6, titled “Identity.”

With Eph in Washington, D.C., the synopsis for episode 6 reveals that Kelly will go after Nora (Mia Maestro) and Zach. Kelly was last seen in episode 5 on the roof of an apartment building with her creepy, spider-like strigoi, known as feelers. She’s been on the hunt for Zach all season and now it appears she may have finally found him.

Zach still misses his mother a lot and in episode 5 he told Eph he wouldn’t leave the city without her. But what he doesn’t understand is that Kelly isn’t the mother he knew anymore, which can make him vulnerable to her if he sees her. Will Nora be enough to stop Kelly and prevent Zach from going to his mother?

After a series of close calls, Eph made it to Washington, D.C. with his counter-plague. He now has to convince others of how quickly the plague is spreading and how he has found something that can infect the infected. The synopsis teases that Eph will develop a plan to create and deploy a biological weapon with his strain. The key will be getting people to listen, and of course, not getting arrested for being a wanted man or throwing the Secretary of Health off a train.

There were no Gus (Miguel Gomez) sightings in episode 5, but he will be returning episode 6 along with “The Silver Angel.” The alliance that was foreshadowed in episode 4 looks like it will finally be put into place as Gus and Angel (Joaquín Cosio) are expected to become allies. It will be interesting to see if Angel uses his neck snapping method to stop the strigoi like he did when he starred in vampire movies.

The synopsis for "Identity" wasn’t clear, but hopefully we get to see more of Nora, Vet and Dutch working together with Councilwoman Feraldo (Samantha Mathis) and the NYPD. It’ll take a big team effort to stop the Master, and they all seem to be moving in the right direction to do so. Fitzwilliam (Roger R. Cross) joining the cause will definitely help give the team an edge over Palmer (Jonathan Hyde) as well.

Setrakian (David Bradley) and Palmer are both hot on the trail for the Occido Lumen. Will one of them take another step towards finding this ancient book? Also who was the ancient we saw at the end of episode 5?

"The Strain" Season 2, episode 6 will air on FX on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. EDT.
