Zack Goodweather officially became the worst kid in TV after “The Strain” Season 3 finale. The FX horror series revealed that The Master’s new vessel was none other than Stoneheart CEO Eldritch Palmer. He needed to inhabit his body in order to find the second nuclear bomb.

Fet (Kevin Durand), Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas), Eph (Corey Stoll), Setrakian (David Bradley) and Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones) managed to get The Master/Palmer (Jonathan Hyde) in a coffin laced with silver and lead. All they needed to do was to drop it in the bottom of the ocean. Unfortunately, the annoying son of Eph was angry at his father for killing his mother Kelly (Natalie Brown). In his anger he pulled the trigger to a nuclear bomb that exploded near the Statue of Liberty. It injured and killed many people, sent the humans underground for fear of catching radiation and let the strigoi roam freely during the day since the sun was blocked after the explosion.

“The Strain” fans are, of course, angry at Zack (Max Charles) and wish him dead after he triggered a nuclear explosion. However, a new theory is emerging that The Master is keeping the boy around so that he can groom him to be his next host.

There are four evidences that support this new fan theory. Firstly, The Master made sure that Zack was never harmed or turned when he was in his custody. After the failed Occido Lumen exchange, The Master could have easily fed on the boy or allowed Kelly to turn him. Instead, he made sure Kelly and Eichhorst (Richard Sammel) protected him.

Secondly, in the books, The Master grooms Zack to be his new vessel.

Thirdly, it is possible that The Master cannot occupy the body of a boy. Maybe he needs Zack to reach a certain age before he can use him as a host. It would certainly explain why he wants him around. Remember in the Season 3 finale, The Master tells Eph that his son has a dark heart.

Fourthly, Palmer was a weak host to begin with. The CEO only survived because of The White. It is possible that his body will soon be unusable or too frail to occupy for long. In that case, he can easily jump into Eph’s son’s body in Season 4.

Even if The Master occupies Zack’s body, it will help the hunters kill two really bad birds with one stone.

“The Strain” Season 4 premieres in 2017.
