Gabriel Macht as Harvey

It looks like Harvey (Gabriel Macht) is left with no choice but to step up his game following Jessica’s (Gina Torres) departure from Pearson Specter Litt (P.S.L.).

In a recent interview with TVLine, “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh said that Jessica’s resignation from the law firm gives “an opportunity for Harvey to undergo some personal growth” in the remaining six episodes of Season 6.

“We talked, as writers, about what that means,” Korsh shared. “Does it mean he goes back to therapy? Does it mean he deals with his mother? Does it mean he gets into a deeper relationship with Donna (Sarah Rafferty)? All of these possibilities were tossed around … and we ended up picking one or some of them.”

Last season, Harvey sought the help of Dr. Paula Agard (Christina Cole) after he was left devastated by Donna’s decision to resign as his secretary. Harvey’s therapy with Dr. Agard was a huge part of the installment, but fans haven’t seen the Harvard-educated psychiatrist since the Season 5 summer finale of the USA Network series.

It won’t be a surprise, however, if Cole reprises her role as Dr. Agard in the remaining six episodes of Season 6, as Korsh told TVLine last year that Harvey’s shrink might return in the latter part of current installment.

“I would like not to be done with Dr. Paula Agard,” Korsh told the website at the time. “I thought she was a great addition to the cast as a character and as an actress. We are trying to figure … out [how can she return to the series]. It’s possible that we may see her in the back six and/or that we may see her in Season 6.”

It was revealed in the Season 5 summer finale that Harvey’s mom was cheating on his dad. Although Harvey originally had no plans to reveal his mom’s secret, an intense boxing match with his dad led him to divulge everything he knew about his mom’s affair. Since then, members of the Specter family have been estranged from one another, and Harvey has been blaming himself for it. Perhaps Jessica’s decision to prioritize her personal desire over her hopes for P.S.L. is going to inspire Harvey to fix his personal life, too.

At the end of Season 6, episode 10, viewers saw Harvey and Donna hold hands in his office shortly after Jessica revealed her decision to leave the firm. While Harvey and Donna shippers were quick to conclude that the scene means the pair’s romantic storyline is back on the table, Korsh told The Hollywood Reporter in September that the true meaning of the intimate moment “remains to be seen.” “I try to be super cagey with the ‘Darvey’ (Donna and Harvey) stuff because any answer I give I just get in trouble,” he told the website at the time. “And I prefer to let what we do speak for itself.”

Whether or not that gesture was romantic in nature, Korsh told Deadline in the same month that the scene in question “was definitely a development in their intimacy.” “It’s going to have an effect to some degree,” he assured fans. “[However,] it remains to be seen on our side what that effect is, but I think it’s a small step forward in the evolution of their relationship. I would say that.”

“Suits” Season 6, episode 11, titled “She’s Gone,” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2016 at 10 p.m. EST on USA Network.
