Rumored Boston Marathon bombing suspect and missing Brown University student Sunil Tripathi is confirmed as not connected to Monday’s attack. The AP reported Friday that the remaining suspect in the bombing is 19-year-old Dzkohkar A. Tsarnaev, of Cambridge, Mass., but investigation officials had not released the name to the public as of their Friday-morning press conference.
Allegations that 22-year-old Tripathi, missing since mid-March, was involved in the attack that killed three and injured 178 others, began on Reddit Thursday after a user claimed he heared Tripathi's name reported over a Boston police scanner.
Users mistakenly identified Tripathi again after surveilliance photos of the two suspects were released by the FBI Thursday, as suspect number two, the man in the white hat.
According to CNN, Tripathi was granted a temporary leave from the Ivy League school last month for unidentified personal issues. The Radnor, Pa., native was last seen leaving his Rhode Island apartment on March 16, leaving behind his cell phone, credit cards, ID and other personal items.
Providence Police Detective Mark Sacco commented that the FBI currently does not know his whereabouts and has received no solid leads.

A Twitter account, @findingsunny, has been set up to locate Tripathi. The Facebook page connected to the Twitter account was closed Friday as a result of allegations of Tripathi’s involvement in the bombing. The NY Daily News reported last month that the philosophy major suffers from depression.
“Between family and friends, we are [normally] in constant contact with him,” said the sister of the victim, Sungeeta Tripathi, 30. “We became worried when he didn’t respond to many missed calls.… Every minute is [like] 10 years," she said.
CNN released a statement from Margaret Klawunn, vice president for student life and campus services at Brown University.
"Our concerns are first and foremost with Sunil and his family. We are hopeful that by encouraging the Brown community to help spread the word, that Sunil will be located,” said Klawunn.
