Avid fans of the former CBS series “Supergirl” may see a familiar face rejoin the show’s upcoming second season. A latest report has indicated that Calista Flockhart who portrayed the character "Cat Grant" is currently in discussions to rejoin the series at its new network home, The CW.

The CW has recently announced that it has picked up season 2 of “Supergirl” from its sister network CBS. The series’ production is also expected to transfer from Los Angeles to Canada where most of the CW shows are filmed. Given the recent move, there were also speculations that cast member Flockhart may have a limited number of appearances in the upcoming new season. However, CW president Mark Pedowitz has shared that there are “ongoing discussions” happening between the network and the actress, TVLine reported.

Pedowitz made the revelation during a recent conference call interview with reporters to talk about some of the network’s fall series line-up. He mentioned that Flockhart has expressed interest to continue working on “Supergirl” for its second season run. The CW executive stated that they were “thrilled” over the actress’ intention to reprise her role.

However, Pedowitz did not disclose if loyal viewers of the show will see Flockhart’s Cat Grant all through-out the new season. Although, he commented that they would welcome the actress’ continued participation in the show even if may result to less screen time. “We’re happy to have her in whatever capacity,” Pedowitz said.

Meanwhile, “Supergirl” season 2 was the first series that the CW network has decided to pick up as part of its “new” line-up of shows for the next TV season, Deadline stated. “Supergirl” joins the network’s collection of superhero-based series such as “The Flash,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and “Arrow.”

The show’s recent network move has also helped to trim down production costs for the series, as stated in the same report. Filming activities for “Supergirl” season 2 are now expected to commence in Vancouver.
