Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Cyborg Superman are facing off against each other in Season 2, episode 7 of “Supergirl.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, entitled “The Darkest Place,” the Girl of Steel comes face to face with Cyborg Superman when she goes on a solo mission to rescue Mon-El (Chris Wood) who has been captured by CADMUS.

In DC lore, Cyborg Superman is the evil counterpart to Superman with a robotic body developed using Kryptonian technology and genetics. The original Cyborg Superman in the comics is Hank Henshaw, but since “Supergirl’s” version of Hank (David Harewood) was revealed to be Martian Manhunter, the show’s Cyborg Superman might be inspired by the latest incarnation of the character in the comics.

In the New 52 continuity reboot, Cyborg Superman is Supergirl’s biological father Zor-El. But since the show’s version of Zor-El is believed to have died in the destruction of Krypton, it’s possible that Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) adoptive father Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain) could be taking his place as Cyborg Superman.

Kara and her adoptive family had thought for a long time that Jeremiah died while on a mission in a remote location in Peru. But in Season 1, episode 17, entitled “Manhunter,” Martian Manhunter learned that Jeremiah is still alive and is being kept at CADMUS.

Even though it’s not confirmed whether Cain is going to reprise his role as Jeremiah this season, the actor told Access Hollywood last June that he might be flying to Vancouver “a couple times and … do some interesting stuff” for Season 2.

Also in Season 2, episode 7, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), a.k.a. the Guardian, tries to clear his name after being accused of a murder committed by another vigilante.

“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 7 is directed by Glen Winter from a script written by Robert Rovner and Paula Yoo. It will air on Monday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
