The Legion of Superheroes comes to the rescue in the next episode of “Supergirl.”

According to the synopsis for Season 3, episode 10 of the CW series, Mon-El (Chris Wood) enlists the help of his fellow Legion member Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) to try to bring back Kara (Melissa Benoist) who remains in a dreamlike state following her brutal fight against Reign (Odette Annable). When the Worldkiller continues her rampage on National City, the DEO joins forces with Legion of Superheroes to try to stop her.

In the trailer for the episode, Kara is seen submerged in water as her body tries to heal from the injuries inflicted by Reign last episode. Although unable to be reached, the Girl of Steel of is well aware that she needs to recover as soon as possible. “Reign is still out there. People are dying. I have to wake up,” Kara says in the promo clip.

“Episode 10 is called ‘Legion of Superheroes,’ and you can’t call it that without having the Legion of Superheroes in it,” former executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told TVLine last November. “We’ve hinted at the Legion going back to Season 1, when we saw the Legion ring in the Fortress of Solitude, so the Legion will have a presence [this season].”

When asked about the timing of the Legion’s arrival, Kreisberg said, “Supergirl is about to face her greatest nemesis in the three years that we’ve been doing the show — we feel that Reign is the best villain we’ve ever had — so it’s going to take all the allies that she can muster to take Reign down. The Legion will be playing a big part in that.”

Episode 10 marks the first appearance of Brainiac-5, a half-computer, half-organic life with a 12-level intellect. In the comics, Supergirl travels to the 31st century to fight alongside the Legion of Superheroes, and during that time, she grew to be more than just teammates with Brainiac-5. And based on a previous interview with Kreisberg, it seems that the show’s version of Brainiac-5 will also develop feelings for Kara. “Someone down the road will like Kara a lot, which will be a lot of fun,” Kreisberg told TVLine last October.

“Supergirl” Season 3, episode 10 airs on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
