Dean will try to rescue Sam in “Supernatural” Season 12. Katie Yu/The CW

“Supernatural” will be back this fall with a brand-new Season 12. Season 11 ended with Amara/The Darkness resurrecting Dean and Sam Winchester’s mother, Mary. Elsewhere, Sam seemed to have been shot by a member of the British chapter of the Men of Letter named Lady Toni. What will happen in the upcoming season of The CW series?

Judging by the newly released Season 12 photos, a lot! Mary (Samantha Smith) is adjusting to her life on Earth. However, it won’t be long before she dons her hunting cap. She teams up with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) in order to rescue Sam (Jared Padalecki) who is being tortured by the Men of Letters with a blowtorch.

It’s a good thing that Dean and Sam’s mother is comfortable with a blade because Dean is going to need all the help her can muster to rescue his little Sammie. Looking at the photos, it’s clear that this isn’t going to be an easy task.

Earlier this month, “Supernatural” showrunner Andrew Dabb and Padalecki told TVLine that the hunters may not have all the information about mama Winchester’s life. “The story’s always been, ‘Once Mary married John and settled down, she stopped hunting. But we’re going to find out maybe that’s not the whole story,” Dabb said.

Padalecki pointed out that while Sam blames his father for leading a life of a hunter, he is going to find out that it’s actually his mother’s fault why his father and the rest of the Winchesters are in this business. “She was the hunter. It was the Campbell family, not the Winchester family. It wasn’t her fault, but it was her lineage that led us to where we are now,” he said.

While Mary is busy adjusting to her new life, she isn’t going to be too happy to learn that her boys have become hunters. It is not a life she wanted her sons to lead.

“Supernatural” Season 12 premieres on Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW. The series has been moved from Wednesdays to Thursdays.
