A new player is coming to the CW's Supernatural. Fans of the long running series may have thought that Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) would be alone in the eighth season after his brother Dean (Jensen Ackles) was cast in Purgatory, but think again! Canadian actress Liane Blaban has been cast as Amelia, Sam's new love interest.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Balaban's character, Amelia, will be a reoccurring role on Supernatural. Amelia is said to be a doctor suffering with a damaged soul.

She's unable to rebound from a tragedy in her past, but we soon discover she's brave, sweet and sarcastic, explains the CW. Amelia is said to be cautious of Sam at first, but things are bound to change since she's labeled as his new love interest.

Balaban is wasting no time jumping into the series. The actress is reportedly heading to Vancouver this week to start shooting her scenes in season eight. According to Zap2it.com, fans will more than likely catch their first peak of Amelia in the third episode of the season, which just so happens to have Jensen Ackles directing.

Balaban has some prior TV experience. The actress has made appearances on Alphas, NCIS: Los Angeles, Covert Affairs and Numb3rs.

Supernatural will return for its eight season on the CW on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 9 P.M.
