Microsoft has sent out invitations to a media event taking place Oct. 6 in New York City. The letter promises "some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices." Previous rumors about the event suggest the company will unveil the Surface Pro 4, two Lumia smartphones and a Band 2 fitness device.

The invitation is vague, but the event is at 10 a.m. EDT at the Skylight at Moynihan Station. The venue is one of two locations hosting New York Fashion Week and previously has hosted shows by world-renowned designers.

One of the most anticipated announcements at the event is an update to the Surface Pro 4. If the rumors are true, the next-gen tablet-laptop hybrid will feature an Intel Skylake processor, a bigger battery unit, an N-trig stylus with improved pressure sensitivity and two display sizes, 12 and 14 inches.

The device will also, unsurprisingly, come with Windows 10 as standard. The operating system greatly improves on the touch support of its predecessor, with an interface that adapts to a trackpad or touch screen, improved handwriting recognition and built-in inking capabilities in the Web browser.

Microsoft also is rumored to announce two Lumia phones: the Lumia 950, with a 5.2-inch display, and a 950 XL, with a 5.7-inch display and faster processor. Both are set to feature a 20-megapixel camera, iris scanner and USB Type-C support.
