Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the two brothers suspected of bombing the Boston Marathon on April 15, was moved early Friday morning to a prison in Fort Devens, Mass., west of Boston, the U.S. Marshals Service has announced. Tsarnaev, 19, was being treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for severe and suspected self-inflicted injuries sustained during the manhunt for him in Watertown, Mass., a week ago. Tsarnaev's injuries included gunshot wounds to the throat, tongue and leg.

Tsarnaev was officially charged by federal authorities on Wednesday, April 22, for his part in carrying out the bombings at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured approximately 260. He is charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in death. There is no word yet on whether he will be charged in the shooting death of 26-year-old MIT security guard Sean Collier. Tsarnaev could face the death penalty.

According to an interview in the Boston Globe with a young Chinese immigrant carjacked by Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan, the night of April 18, the siblings were making plans to carry out a similar attack in Times Square in New York City. The younger Tsarnaev reportedly confirmed these plans to his interrogators in the hospital, New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told CBS.

Tsarnaev’s father, Anzor, who still lives in Russia, is planning to travel to the U.S. to bury his older son, 26-year-old Tamerlan, who was killed in a shootout with police, after which his brother ran over his body in a getaway car.
