Afghan police said at least one of six suicide bombers has blown himself up inside a popular hotel for Western travelers in the Afghan capital of Kabul police reported 10 casualties and blocked the road leading to the Intercontinental Hotel where several gunshots were heard after the initial attacks according to a police official.

A gun fight is still going on, a police officer told Reuters.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on telephone.

ABC News reporter Nick Schifrin reported 6 insurgents hit the hotel in a very rare nighttime attack.

Security has been heavy in the city as word of a possible suicide attack had floated around Kabul for the past few weeks.
