“Teen Mom 2” was rumored to be on the chopping blokc last month after MTV producers reportedly decided that after five seasons, the hit reality-TV series coming run its course. While the show’s cast: Kailyn Marroquin, Leah Messer-Calvert, Jenelle Evans and Chelsea Houska, were expected to say their goodbyes to viewers during the show’s season 5 finale last week, the foursome is now rumored to be returning to the network for season 6.

Despite previous reports that the reality show’s fifth season would be its last, Radar Online is now claiming that MTV producers are planning to keep the show on-air due to new dramas recently introduced by the cast and an increase in viewership. “Producers saw that ratings were so high and now there’s a whole new crop of drama: Jenelle’s pregnant, and Leah are Jeremy are talking about divorce. It would be foolish to stop filming now,” said an insider.

“Teen Mom 2” star Jenelle Evans, 22, added fuel to the rumor’s fire Thursday, hinting at the validity of the rumored on her Sulia account. “Initially everyone thought the show was over, but now new reports are coming out that would suggest otherwise," she said. "Obviously, I cannot comment, but I can show you some of the reports that I believe to be accurate.".

According to the Radar Online, additional “Teen Mom 2” episodes are currently being filmed by the cast and will air as part of an extension of the show’s fifth season later this year. As of Friday morning, there is no announcement from MTV as to when/if season 6 of “TM2” would premiere.

On March 14, Radar Online reported that according to a source close to the show's production, “Teen Mom 2” would wrap after season 5. “There is no season 6,” said the insider, adding that producers wanted to conclude the show on a high note. “They wanted to end ‘Teen Mom 2’ with high ratings,” said the source.

Part 2 of the “Teen Mom 2” reunion show airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT on MTV.
