A woman cleaning a vacation home in Hawaii was brutally murdered, Hawaii police said as they announced two arrests in the case.

Telma Boinville, 51, was found dead in the Ke Iki Beach home, north of Honolulu on Thursday, with her 8-year-old daughter bound and duct-taped. KHON-TV reported that Stephen Brown, 23, and his girlfriend Hailey Dandurand, 20, were arrested in connection with the murder Friday and charged with several counts including second degree murder, burglary, and kidnapping.

Police said the couple fled in Boinville’s Toyota Tacoma pickup truck after the attack. KHON reported that Dandurand had Boinville's credit card on her and both Dandurand and Brown had dried blood on their hands.

Boinville, a native Brazilian, who worked at a local elementary school, was said to be cleaning the apartment before the attack. Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that she was helping a friend clean homes to supplement her income. “This put her in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Boinville's husband Kevin Emery in a statement.

Earlier, Brian Emery, Kevin Emery's brother, posted a video on social media seeking the public’s help to locate the suspects. The girl then identified Brown and Dandurand as the people who had tied her up, after Emery showed her a Facebook photo of the couple. According to police, Boinville was beaten with a baseball bat, which was recovered from the scene and died of blunt force trauma.

Hawaii News Now cited Emery’s Instagram post saying his wife was a "very loving and caring person." Emery also said in the post that they were together since 2005, and that Boinville "had an awesome talent and passion for baking healthy goods, music, teaching kids, surfing, yoga, massage and family. She will be forever in our hearts."

He also started a GoFundMe page for his 8-year-old daughter and more than $75,000 was raised at the time of publishing this article.

Boinville worked at Sunset Beach Elementary school for many years. The school in a letter addressed to parents of children at the school wrote Friday: “Ms. Telma was a beloved member of our Sunset Beach Elementary School (SBES) family. This morning, we will tell our students about Ms. Telma’s passing. To support our students, SBES will have addition school counselors and District Behavioral Specialists available. The additional personnel will be here to respond to the emotional needs of our SBES community and provide students and teachers with resources such as grief counseling and classroom debriefing to facilitate healing. Sunset Beach Elementary School is a family and we will be here to support one another, our students, and our families.”

Meanwhile, Brown’s ex-girlfriend revealed that he had tried to physically abuse her by repeatedly punching her in the face and trying to choke her.

“The last time I talk to him, he told me that he didn't have a job and he was very suicidal and that he was planning to do death by cop, something stupid like pretending you have a gun so the cop will shoot you, so I think this is his plan so he gets beaten to death in prison,” the woman said, reported Daily Mail.
