Arnold Schwarzenegger recently revealed some interesting plot details of “Terminator Genisys,” the film that will hit U.S. theaters July 1. The 67-year-old actor spoke to IGN about his character’s relationship with John Connor (Jason Clarke) and revealed that their relationship will be strained in the beginning but they will eventually become “partners” in order to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke).

Warning: Spoilers ahead. “My mission is to protect Sarah Connor, and his mission is to protect Sarah Connor. So in the end, he realizes that he’s been sent back to the past from the future to protect her, but she already has a protector, and so there’s a little bit of struggle between the two of us,” Schwarzenegger said.

The former governor of California added that John does not trust terminators as he thinks they have been sent to destroy the human race. John will also be jealous of Schwarzenegger’s T-800, who has been reprogrammed to raise and protect Sarah.

Sarah will reportedly idolize T-800 and will look at him as her “ultimate protector,” something John will not agree with. But when he joins hands with T-800, things will “go in a different direction.”

The action in “Terminator Genisys” will take place in three time periods -- present, future and past. The film will open in 2029, where John will be shown waging a war against machines. His trusted army members will notify him that Skynet plans to attack him in the future and the past. To win a war from Skynet, he will sent Kyle Reese into the past to protect his mother Sarah and ensure his own existence. However, the original past will be changed and Sarah, Reese and T-800 will go on a mission to terminate T-1000 and T-3000.

Alan Taylor has directed the film from a script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The film premiered in Berlin on Sunday. It will be shown in 3D, Read 3D and Imax 3D. Other cast members include Lee Byung-hun, Matt Smith and Oscar winner J.K. Simmons.
