"Terminator Genisys" hits theaters July 1. Paramount

He said he’d be back. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the role that made him a star in the latest installation of the “Terminator” series. In the new trailer for “Terminator Genisys,” he’s not only back, he’s bringing the action against his past Terminator model.

In “Terminator Genisys,” Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is thrown back in time to join forces with Schwarzenegger’s Terminator and protect Sarah Conner (Emilia Clarke) in her training to survive and ensure the future existence of her son, John Connor (Jason Clarke). An adult John Conner must stop the dreaded GENISYS program from going online and bringing about Judgement Day for the human race.

Here’s three moments from the new teaser trailer you can’t miss:

1. Schwarzenegger v. Schwarzenegger

This new trailer wastes no time getting straight to the action. Within the first few seconds of “Genisys,” current-day Arnold goes head-to-head with the (CGI) old school Schwarzenegger from the original “Terminator” movie from James Cameron. Unfortunately, it does not show if “Terminator 5” holds to the originals au naturale big screen debut.

2. Scary Liquid Terminator Is Back

Starting with 1991’s “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” and never leaving our collective nightmares since, the T-1000 is the advance model of Schwarzenegger’s Terminator T-800. It’s malleable liquid form allows it to create whatever shape and weapon it needs, and at the :22 second mark, that means arms in the shape of blades. Run, Sarah Connor, run!

3. Explosions Guaranteed

Being that star Schwarzenegger is offering fans a chance to blow things up with him as a film tie-in promotion, the last five seconds of the trailer also reflect the filmmakers’ enthusiasm for things that go “boom!”
