The owner of a Texas daycare center has been arrested for allegedly drugging the milk of the kids she cares for.

Kimberly Lane, who owns the Love n Learning Child Development Center in Van Alstyne, is being investigated by Child Protective Services and the Van Alstyne Police Department for allegedly putting antihistamines in the children's milk, KXII-TV reported.

Lane was arrested and charged with 16 counts of child endangerment, MSNBC.com reported.

Police were reportedly tipped off by a daycare employee.

Lane allegedly crushed capsules and mixed them in the milk that was served at 11 a.m. to make some of the children go to sleep, KXII-TV reported.

There are also allegations of physical abuse, according to an arrest warrant, KXII-TV reported.

In this particular case the minimum standards being investigated are abuse and inappropriate forms of discipline and director responsibility, said Julie Moody of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the TV station reported.

The daycare center takes care of children from 18 months to five years, according to its Web site. It is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

All teachers are certified in CPR and First Aid, the Web site says.

The Web site also says that Lane has a degree in Child Development and has worked in the field for five years. It also says she is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
