Declared as a national holiday in the United States and Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November. This year the day falls on Nov. 23. Thanksgiving Day has its historical roots in English traditions, dating from Protestant Reformation. However, it is popularly observed to celebrate the blessing of the harvest bounty.
