Thomas Bennaro, the Connecticut man who had been missing since last week, has been found dead and is believed to have died from a fall, police said Friday.

The body of Bennaro, 55, of Meriden, Conn., was found in a wooded area near his home about 6 p.m. Friday, the Hartford Courant reported. Bennaro went missing Sept. 21 and was last seen alive at his home that day around 3 p.m., according to the paper.

Foul play was not suspected in Bennaro’s death, but an autopsy is scheduled to determine the 55-year-old’s cause of death, NBC Connecticut reported.

The Connecticut State Police and the Meriden Police Department discovered Bennaro’s body, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. The paper said Bennaro suffered from anxiety and depression. A Silver Alert had been issued for Bennaro on Monday.
