Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is going to find a friend in Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) in “Thor: Ragnarok,” but the same cannot be said of his half brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

In fact, the two of them will even engage in an intense fight, which Thompson thoroughly enjoyed filming. “That fight was so much fun. So much fun,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “First of all. the choreography was really punchy and physical, not as much sword work which sort of keeps you at arm’s length with people. I think because Tom’s character is involved there’s a cheekiness to that fight that made it just really fun — it just felt like a tennis match. I don’t know if it remains but there were a lot of one-liners between us. So it has a real sort of sense of humor.”

Thompson even hinted that there might be some romantic tension between the two characters because even though Valkyrie does not really think Loki is trustworthy, she still identifies with his character. “Eventually she figures out Loki’s not to be trusted. I just think there’s something about two folks that kind of come from the same place in a sense, that have the same chip on their shoulder in a way. There’s a thin line between how much they hate and love each other,” she said.

It was already ruled out earlier that Valkyrie will be Thor’s new love interest, since that title still belongs to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who unfortunately will not be appearing in the new movie. She was then rumoured to be the lover of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), the head of the intergalactic gladiator arena. But Thompson said their relationship was purely professional. Thompson told Comic Book, “I don’t have any romantic relationship with The Grandmaster. It’s a strictly work relationship, which is advantageous, mostly for me.”

The actress did say that Valkyrie’s relationship with the Grandmaster is unique, since the two have managed to maintain good business deals. “I bring the Grandmaster things that may be of interest to him, and one of those happens to be Thor. [The Grandmaster is] always grouping people together in fights, and I brought The Hulk to him, and so I bring Thor as a would-be contender, and hilarity ensues,” she said.

Valkyrie will play a huge role in the upcoming Marvel movie, and it has even been hinted that she will appear in “Avengers: Infinity War” as well.

“Thor: Ragnarok” will be released on Nov. 3.
