Broadway might be renowned for its nod to the fantastical, but those who attended the 2012 Tony Awards opted for sartorial splendor over overtly showy.

Hollywood's and Broadway's brightest stars gathered together Sunday night at the Beacon Theatre for the 2012 Tony Awards. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the evening's celebrations, with the opening line, Welcome to the 66th annual Tony Awards, or as we like to call it, '50 Shades of Gay.' Harris went on to showcase this year's biggest and brashest Broadway hits, including smash-success The Book of Mormon.

Although the Tony's stage rocked with performers decked out in sparkling attire and drenched in brilliant spotlight, the red carpet was anything but gaudy. Attendees dressed to the nines in a feat of sartorial splendor.

Singer Sheryl Crow, who made her first public appearance at the 2012 Tony Awards since announcing that she has a benign brain tumor, wore a navy Marchesa gown with a sheer, embroidered bodice and opaque skirt. It was a beautiful transition from the 50-year-old's standard casual-cool style.

Hey everyone, Crow wrote on her Facebook page last week. Please don't worry about my 'brain tumor,' it's a non-cancerous growth. I know some folks can have problems with this kind of thing, but I want to assure everyone I'm OK. I'm feeling very healthy and happy, and having a great time on the road playing with my new band. I'm busy working on my next record too, which I'm very excited about ... and I'll be on The Tony Awards this Sunday.

On Sunday, the singer looked happy, healthy and glowing.

Another best dressed of the night was Rock of Ages and upcoming Jekyll & Hyde star, Constantine Maroulis. Maroulis, who usually opts for leather jackets and open button-downs, looked like a dapper don Sunday night in a Sarar tuxedo, black shirt, white bowtie and black pocket square with white piping, styled by celebrity stylist Lauren Rae Levy. He accessorized with Audemars Piguet rose gold and black cufflinks and the Royal Oak rose gold chronograph. On his feet were Stubbs & Wootton black velvet and patent leather slippers worn without socks.

[No socks] was a little bit of a statement as no one ever sees a tux, no socks, Levy told IBTimes Fashion & Life. But, the men have been LOVING this and guys keep asking me about this no socks with a tux thing now since it really does look so cool.

Instead of letting his long locks flow free, Maroulis tied his hair back in a sleek ponytail.

2 Broke Girls actress, Beth Behrs, looked gorgeous in a glittering coral Naeem Khan gown with a deep V-neck and pleated skirt. The CBS actress looked absolutely radiant with her blonde hair pulled into a tight bun and soft makeup. She carried a black clutch to complement her red carpet look.
