Software giant Google is the most reputable company in the United States, according to the annual ‘Reputation Report’ from market researcher Harris Interactive.

For its 2011 Interactive RQ study, Harris Interactive conducted a poll of more than 30,000 respondents asking them to rank the 60 most visible companies in U.S. on 20 different attributes.

The attributes included Emotional Appeal, Products & Services, Social Responsibility, Vision & Leadership, Workplace Environment, and Financial Performance.

Harris Interactive then rated the reputation of each company based on the 20 attributes ratings. The survey found that overall American consumer confidence was rising, with sixteen companies receiving an RQ score over 80 in 2011 (in which 80.0 and higher is consider excellent) compared to just 6 companies in 2010.

Google was ranked highest out of the 60 companies with an RQ score of 84.05 and Johnson & Johnson came in 2nd place with an RQ score of 83.13.
