With New York Fashion Week just days away, the focus isn’t only on the clothes and the designers who create them, but the models wearing them, as well.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, the top model on everyone’s radar this season is Cara Delevingne. The 20-year-old blonde, and sister of socialite Poppy Delevingne, is fashion’s hottest commodity lately. Though the British-born model still considered a newcomer, at least in the eyes of New York Magazine, Delevingne has strutted the runway for some of the biggest names in fashion, including Burberry and most recently, the Chanel couture show in January.
Delevingne, who stands at five-foot-eight, first hit the scene in 2009 when she signed with Storm Models. Since, she has switched agencies, moving to DNA Models, and scored editorials in magazines like Vogue and W. After being named the face of Burberry in 2011, Delevingne recently replaced Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller as the face of Pepe Jeans.
"I'm very happy to be part of the team, considering the line-up before me," Cara told Vogue UK. "Alexa and Sienna are also great friends of mine."
Delevingne also recently starred with Romeo Beckham for Burberry’s Spring 2013 campaign, stole the attention with her funny social media posts (some alongside Justin Bieber) during the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, was named the face of DKNY and landed the cover of Vogue UK for March.
“At just 20 years old as well, it's so amazing. It doesn't really sink in until you actually see it--that cover, that magazine. It's so great,” she said.
Joining the ranks of Delevingne is 18-year-old Marine Deleeuw, who was named by Style.com as one of the top 10 models. Deleeuw has impressive career at her age, having walked in 46 shows already with many more to come. Last season, she opened the show for Rag & Bone and walked for Prada, Balenciaga and Christian Dior, to name a few.
And that’s not all for Delevingne and Deleeuw, who are slated to walk in the best shows for the Fall 2013 season, along with other top models.
Here are some of the fresh faces you should be on the lookout for this season.
