True Detective
Will we finally find out what happened between Cohle and Hart in 2002 during episode 6 of "True Detective"? True Detective

Only five days to go until “True Detective” fans get one step closer to finding out who the Yellow King is on episode 6, “Haunted Houses.” On the episode, which airs Sunday, fans of the HBO series will finally learn what happened between Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Hart (Woody Harrelson) in 2002.

Throughout the entire series we’ve heard talk of a bitter falling out between the onetime partners. And now, in 2006, the detectives will help put together the pieces to the puzzle of why their relationship mysteriously fell apart.

“Cohle’s activities in 2002, when his partnership with Hart disintegrated and he quit the force, are recalled by Maggie,” the official synopsis of “Haunted Houses” states.

In the promo for next week, we can see Maggie express that she has no ill feelings toward Cohle. “Something went real wrong with them,” a current detective admits to Hart’s ex-wife. “I know Rust to be a good man. So I can’t imagine what I could offer,” she responded.

Despite the duo’s “breakup,” they’ve still maintained a mutual respect. And, not to mention, they keep each other’s secrets safe. Last week, we found out what really went down at Reggie LaDue’s hidden home — and we have to admit, it wasn’t pretty. In a fit of rage Hart pulled the trigger that resulted in LaDue’s bloody demise. That’s when Cohle acted quickly, getting rid of the second witness. Cohle and Hart had murdered the suspects, but, ironically, neither of them was the Yellow King.

Cohle knows the killer is still lurking around Louisiana, which is why he’s been seen snooping around several of the crime scenes. And Papania and Gilbough are curious to find out what the former detective knows.

In the promo for episode 6, we hear a victim admit to Cohle that the “man with the scars” made her “watch.” Watch what, exactly? The ritualistic killings? While Cohle is trying to piece together the clues left behind by the Yellow King, Hart is dealing with his own personal issues, from his marriage to his eldest daughter getting caught naked in a car with two older boys.

Viewers will get to see Hart angrier than ever when he confronts the boys who had his daughter stripped down in their vehicle. Seriously, “Haunted House” looks like the most drama-filled episode of “True Detective” to date.

What do you think will happen when the HBO series returns Sunday on HBO at 9 p.m.?
