Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s next big screen release, ‘The Host’, will be out in the theatres in Spring 2013, according to Hitflix.com.

The film’s distributors, Open Road Films announced the release date.

The movie is an adaptation of Meyer’s sci-fi romance novel of the same name which was published in 2008. The story is a bit different from the Twilight saga and focuses on the human holdout against invasion by aliens who take over the human mind.The protagonist is Melanie whose mind is invaded by an alien named Wanderer and how she resists it.

The star of the movie is Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones). Andrew Niccol of Gattaca , The Truman Show and Simone  fame is writing the script and directing . Shooting for the film will start in February 2012 in Louisiana and New Mexico. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized.

Earleir it was reported that Susanna White (Nanny McPhee returns) was to direct the movie, adapted by Niccol but now it seems Niccol will also be behind the cameras.

In an interview Stephenie Meyer mentioned that even The Host might have sequels named The Soul and The Seekers. Another saga in the making?
