NFL legend Dan Marino has now added another line to his resume besides being in the Hall of Fame and appearing on numerous commercials: fathering a love child. Comments about the ex-football player's personal life have began to spread like wildfire.

It seems people can't get enough of the Marino story, and with the jokes being too easy for some to resist, the Internet has began to endlessly bash him.

The woman responsible for intercepting the athlete’s sperm is CBS employee Donna Savattere. The two had an affair in 2004; the former Miami Dolphins quarterback is still married to his wife of 28 years, Claire, TMZ reported.

The athlete’s seventh child Chloe was born in 2005, the same year he was inducted to the Hall of Fame, reports said.

Marino, 51, released a statement to the New York Post: "I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”

He continued, "My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together. And we continue to be a strong and loving family."

By midday Thursday the news had spread throughout the Internet, with the Twitterverse making some of the harshest Marino quips.

The relentless slew of posts consisted of tweets like this from @alanwieder, who wrote:

“Come on Dan Marino, you of all people should know to wear a helmet.”

“That awkward moment when you realize that the Dan Marino love child story is the most we've mentioned scoring from a Dolphin all season,” @iSampleJETS added.

@ippolito77 tweeted, “During his carreer Dan Marino was especially renowned for his quick release. Looks like he took that reputation a little too far.”

Admitting to the affair he had with CBS employee Savattere seems to have only made rooms for even more quips.

‏@jbuke wrote, “Guess Dan Marino and David Letterman have something in common... A secret love for CBS employees...”

Those are just some of the hundreds of tweets socials media users have been sending out via the mini-blogosphere.

Marino’s wife has yet to publicly comment on his affair and he is still supposed to host the pre-game Super Bowl broadcast.
