Linkin Park's lead singer Chester Bennington died at age 41 Thursday, creating a shakeup among fans and members of the music community on Twitter. Bennington died of an apparent suicide, which was later confirmed by band member Mike Shinoda on Twitter.

"Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one," he wrote. Other than Shinoda's confirmation tweet, no official statement has been made by Bennington's bandmates or representatives.

Fellow musical talents from various genres recognized the singer's death on Twitter. Chance the Rapper tweeted about his death, saying, "RIP Chester. Tragic ending. Condolences his family and friends and Linkin Park."

"Oh dear God. Massive R.I.P to Chester Bennington of @linkinpark this BREAKS OUR HEART. Suicide is the devil on earth walking amongst us," OneRepublic wrote alongside a sad face emoji. "Chester had 6 kids. If anyone out there thinks the world is better without you. You are so unspeakably wrong on every level. Get help plz."

"RIP Chester," rapper Killer Mike wrote on Instagram alongside photos with Bennington and his bandmates. "Salutes and Condolences to Mike and Your band mates and big love and Condolences to your children and family from my family. Love and Respect always. Rest easy beloved human being."

Rihanna shared a photo of Bennington on Instagram, saying, "Literally the most impressive talent I've ever seen live! Vocal beast! #RIPChester #LinkinPark"

Loyal Linkin Park fans also expressed their thoughts on Bennington's death on Twitter, with many claiming that "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" were the band's best albums.

One user wrote, "Hybrid Theory and Meteora were the most important albums to me as a kid and the albums are still great. Sad to hear Chester is gone." Another added, "so many days when my suicidal & depressive thoughts were on my mind i used to listen to linkin park. it helped me listening to their music." A third user tweeted about the ban's collaboration with Jay-Z, saying, "an iconic collaboration that we truly did not deserve. rest in peace chester bennington, you'll be missed by all."

The news of his death was first reported by TMZ Thursday, with the gossip outlet claiming the singer hanged himself in his Palos Verdes Estates home. Bennington, who reportedly suffered from depression as well as alcohol and drug addiction, is survived by six children with two different wives. He was close friends with fellow rocker Chris Cornell and posted an open letter on Twitter following the Soundgarden singer's suicide.

Linkin Park's most recent album, "One More Light," surfaced in May with a world tour set to follow. However, the band's final performance with lead singer Bennington was at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena on July 6 in England, according to NME. Footage of the final show quickly emerged following the confirmation of Bennington's death.

Linkin Park was one of the most popular rock bands to date, known for songs like "What I've Done" and "Heavy." One of the band's most notable song is a collaboration with hip-hop artist, Jay-Z, on "Numb/Encore." The collaboration was a remixed version of "Numb," combining the genre-blending sounds of hip-hop and rock, uniting fans from both music worlds together.
