Tyrese Gibson recently opened up about the joint custody ruling granted to him and his ex-wife, Norma Mitchell Gibson, by the court.

On Saturday, the “Fast and Furious” actor shared a series of photos of himself with his 10-year-old daughter, Shayla, via Instagram. In his lengthy caption, Gibson expressed his happiness over the court’s fair ruling. He also called his and Norma Mitchell’s joint custody a “win” for Shayla.

Gibson also reiterated the fact that he has been a good father to his son despite rumors that he’s been abusing her physically. Norma Mitchell initially filed for sole physical custody of the young girl and claimed that her ex-husband physically hurt Shayla about 12 to 16 times.

Norma Mitchell wrote in the court documents that Gibson “pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.”

The actor also noted in his caption that none of his ex-wife’s claims were proven to be true that’s why the court decided to give both of them joint custody of Shayla. Norma Mitchell also filed for a temporary restraining order from Gibson, and this has already been lifted by the court last week.

Initially, the court demanded Gibson to stay away from Shayla and his ex-wife within 100 yards. But Norma Mitchell’s lawyer claimed that Gibson did not follow through the court’s request when he decided to fly a banner above his daughter’s school property. The banner contained Gibson’s loving words for Shayla.

On his Instagram account, Gibson admitted to flying the banner over Shayla’s school. He also said that he wanted to make it longer, but it was too expensive. Norma Mitchell’s lawyer, Aleen Laura Khanjian, called Gibson’s bold move “disturbing.”

“This disturbing behavior is a complete violation of the restraining order. It is a reflection of Mr. Gibson’s erratic state of mind,” she said.

Gibson and Norma Mitchell’s joint custody of Shayla will begin in January. A rep for the actor told People that the estranged couple is already organizing a visitation schedule for Gibson for the holidays.
