Shane Carwin and Junior Dos Santos battled it out on Saturday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with the chance to fight heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, and the Brazilian Dos Santos won in a unanimous decision.

The judges scored it 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26 for Dos Santos who gave a very strong performance and proved he will be an able opponent for Velasquez.

Dos Santos's quickness was a major factor in the third round, with a speedy jab that kept Carwin at a distance. Carwin had trouble fighting back.

Dos Santos had trouble himself putting together a real finish, but he gave a solid overall effort. He had some effective moves to the body, in particular.

Carwin, on the other hand, was battered early but was impressive in hanging in the fight by delivering some hard lefts. It was worthy performance by the fighter who came up short, but showed his resilient spirit.

It appeared late in the fight that Carwin had a broken nose. When the fight ended, Carwin was bloodied, and had swelling in his left eye.
