Spanish-language television network Univision and online video streamer Hulu have announced a multi-year content agreement that will bring popular network shows to the video viewing Web site.

The demand for Univision's content is tremendous and this will be the first time our most popular programming will be available on the Internet, Univision's president of distribution sales and marketing Tonia O'Connor said in a statement.

Univision is a top U.S. network with millions of viewers. The deal could mean a substantial increase in Hulu users, as the Web site is especially popular for viewing television shows.

Spanish-language shows will also be available to Hulu Plus users.

We're really excited about working with Univision to serve the broad Hispanic audience in the U.S., enabling our advertisers to connect with a young, very fast growing part of the population who haven't yet been able to access a substantial offering of culturally relevant premium Spanish language content online, Hulu senior vice president of content acquisition Andy Forssell said in a statement.

Hulu will begin to air Univision shows later this year, The Associated Press reported.
