In October 2011, Intelliborn introduced the jailbreak solution known as IntelliScreenX, and is only for devices running iOS 5.0 and above. Now apparently the word is that IntelliScreenX jailbreak also works with the Apple iPad 2.

Planetbeing, of the “dream team” of hackers working on the A5 jailbreak, used his Twitter account to tweet an image of IntelliScreenX working on his own iPad 2.

He wrote, ”Been a productive day. Relieved to find out IntelliScreenX (an app I helped write) works on the 4S and iPad 2.” Both the message and image are good signs that the jailbreak is stable enough to install Cydia packages. Also this is the third time an untethered jailbreak has been seen running on an A5 device. First there was a video of a jailbroken iPhone 4S from Dustin Howett. Then there was a picture from Pod2g, again an image of his jailbroken Apple iPad 2. It also demonstrates various functions of the iPhone 4S working without any glitches including Siri.

There is no timeframe as to when this form of jailbreak for the tablet and smartphone will be available. But with the release of an untethered A5 jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 coming any day now, make sure you update your device to iOS 5.0.1. It’s best to do this before Apple releases iOS 5.1, which is expected very soon.
