Randall (Sterling K. Brown) is going to be faced with a difficult decision in Season 1, episode 3 of NBC’s newest drama, “This is Us.” He can either continue hiding from his mother, Rebecca (Mandy Moore), that he has found and reconnected with his biological father or tell her and risk breaking her heart.

Fans of the critically acclaimed show will have to wait until Tuesday to find out for sure what decision he makes, but photos from the set coupled with a sneak peek and synopsis of the episode — titled “Kyle” — suggest it’s going to be a good one. A clip from the episode shows Randall and wife Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) devising a plan. He reveals to her that he had every intention of eventually coming clean with Rebecca about his dad, but was not planning on doing it so soon. Randall decides that the only way to handle it is to put on “a fake a-- smile” and face his mother once and for all.

Randall won’t be the only one dealing with some serious drama during the show. Kevin (Justin Hartley) has just quit his acting job and is ready to start over fresh. He sets his sights on New York City and crosses his fingers that sister Kate (Chrissy Metz), whom he has been using as a human security blanket for much of his life, will join him. This doesn’t sit well with her new man, who is on a mission to show her how to love herself. Tired of seeing her live in Kevin’s shadow, Toby (Chris Sullivan) puts together an over-the-top day that’s all about Kate, hoping to prove to her that she’s got just as much star power as her brother. Fans will also be treated to snippets from the past which will answer questions about Rebecca and Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) marriage, Randall’s adoption and more.

Check out photos from Season 7, episode 3 of “This is Us” and be sure to catch the show at its new, earlier time — Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
