The Pac-12 Championship is on the line Friday night when the No. 12 Stanford Cardinal (9-3, 7-2) face the USC Trojans (10-2, 8-1) at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Both schools don't have much of a chance of earning a College Football Playoff berth, and with the Rose Bowl hosting a playoff semifinal, they will likely play for a spot in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 30. The loser is expected to be invited to the Alamo Bowl or Holiday Bowl.

USC defeated Stanford on Sept. 9 in Los Angeles, 42-24. It was a convincing win for Clay Helton's squad, as USC finished with 623 total yards compared to Stanford's 342.

The Trojans enter the game with more rest. USC held off crosstown rival UCLA on Nov. 19, while David Shaw's side will be playing on five days rest after defeating Notre Dame in Palo Alto, California, 38-20.

Stanford enters the matchup with a bit more momentum. After losing two of their first three games, Stanford has won eight of their last nine.

The two starting quarterbacks are coming off contrasting performances. USC's Sam Darnold threw an interception and failed to throw a touchdown pass against UCLA, while Stanford's K.J. Costello threw for a career-high four touchdown passes against Notre Dame.

Stanford will look to contain USC's top rushers Ronald Jones II and Stephen Carr. In the Sept. 9 meeting, Jones and Carr combined for 235 rushing yards.
