Questions have flared up this week if Google Android 2.3 operating system, Gingerbread, is already within the Android 3.0 Honeycomb, reports said.

An unnamed user known as Graffix0214 has discovered a method to unlock the Gingerbread user interface on his Dell Streak 7 tablet, which runs Honeycomb, by simply changing the system's pixel settings.

An app, LCDDensity for Root, has been used by the modder to change the LCD pixel density setting from 160 to above 170 and completing the process by rebooting the tablet. The device now displays a Gingerbread login interface. Systems can be again reverted back by changing the pixel density back to 160, the user reported.

Doubts have risen if Android 4.0, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich”, which is not expected until the fourth quarter, is already in the market.

Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, revealed at the Mobile World Congress in February that the 'Ice Cream Sandwich' will combine features of both Gingerbread and Honeycomb.
