As nihiti--a mysterious Brooklyn band composed out of an indeterminate number of members--continues moving through the cloud the band's output dialogues with itself as much the audience, flipping style on its head and never staying at rest. Their last EP, Faced With Splendor, stripped experimentalism for acoustic depth and clever song styles. Valentine's Day brought a gift from the group as well, in the form of this gorgeous Marissa Nadler cover. It jumps forward from those compositions, scambling distortion with percussion in a way we haven't heard so precisely in a while.
Another welcome change in the group's narrative. All I know for sure about this band--besides the few questions they would answer for me--is that each new release intrigues and pleases me at once. The lower-case obsessed group sent me the song on Valentine's Day, with this note:
