vampire diaries 6x05 sneak peek
In a sneak peek for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 episode 5, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) can't wait to return to Elena (Nina Dobrev) -- but he doesn't realize that she moved on. CW

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 might bring Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) home soon. Now that the two have Kai (Chris Wood), they just might be able to get back in episode 5. While they’re busy getting out of Kai’s hell dimension, Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) are gearing up for Homecoming — but at least one of them is dateless in the new sneak peek videos for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6, episode 5.

Sneak Peek No. 1

Damon doesn’t seem to care that they’re about to bring a serial killer home with them. He’s just happy to go home. In fact, he and Bonnie have basically switched places. He is now the glowing optimistic one while she isn’t so sure they’ll ever leave.

Damon has big plans for his first night back with Elena. "I’m thinking dinner and a movie," Damon said. "You know what? Screw the dinner and a movie, skip straight to the good part."

He doesn’t even imagine that she might have moved on (or completely erased all good memories of him), but that’s okay because Bonnie is pessimistic enough for the both of them.

“Look, I want to go home more than anything, but Kai’s a sociopath,” Bonnie says. “Who’s to say he won’t screw us over?”

Damon tells Bonnie that he’ll kill Kai if he messes up this plan to go home.

Sneak Peek No. 2

Alaric (Matt Davis) teaches his class about Homecoming, and it’s apparently much more than a football game at Whitmore College. Despite leaving Mystic Falls, everyone is still in a small town with weird, creepy traditions. Rick tells the class about Nathan Whitmore.

“[Whitmore was] horribly disfigured throughout countless battles,” Alaric said. “Somehow [he] survived them all just so he could get home to the woman he loved, and when he finally got home to his farm, he found her in bed with his brother.”

Whitmore decided to kill his brother and chased his wife into the cornfields. That clearly didn’t entertain Tyler and Liv, though, because they decided to talk throughout the lecture. Tyler asked Liv (Penelope Mitchell) if she wanted to go with him to Homecoming.

"You mean like a date?" she asked. "Because definitely not."

They tune into the lecture just in time for the good part. According to Alaric, Lady Whitmore roams the cornfield screaming every Homecoming night. While other students are into the horror story, Elena just looks bored.
