Vampire Diaries Tyler

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 will be bringing back at least one fan favorite character: Tyler Lockwood. The werewolf will return in the final season of the CW drama. However, he’ll quickly find himself in trouble.

Tyler (Michael Trevino) has been in every season of “TVD,” but his role was reduced when he left the show at the end of Season 6. The character exited Mystic Falls after Elena (Nina Dobrev) encouraged him to leave and embrace his supernatural side. He returned in Season 7 for some personal favors, though.

He was trusted with hiding Elena’s body, and he went to Caroline’s (Candice King) baby shower. When Damon wanted to see Elena’s body, he attacked Tyler. Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) mind was being altered by the Phoenix Stone, but Tyler still didn’t appreciate being put into a coma. He was last seen in the Armory. He was losing control while locked in a room with Damon, but Bonnie opened up the room in time to let him escape. He left Bonnie with a serious injury, and the confrontation makes Damon decide to put himself in a coffin for the next three years.

Damon and Tyler will face off once again in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, and it might be even uglier this time. Entertainment Weekly reports that Tyler will make his comeback in episode 3 (which will air Nov. 4), and Damon will likely still be under the influence of something evil.

In the “Vampire Diaries” Season 7 finale, Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) were possessed by the unnamed evil in the vault at the Armory, and they suddenly disappeared. Viewers saw the beginning of their killing spree in the final moments of the episode.

“We will find out why and what they’re driven by and it’s something to do with this new supreme evil that has been lurking in the vault, that has escaped the vault,” Marlarkey teased to Showbiz Junkies last month. “Enzo, however, is kind of grappling with this a bit more, he’s fighting it a bit more than Damon and how we start the season is seeing the whole relationship with Damon and Enzo and this creature, you can call it.”

Tyler will get to see how Damon is handling possession in Season 8, but will Elena see it too? Though Nina Dobrev left at the end of Season 6, she previously promised to return for at least the series finale. CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that the network was negotiating with the actress, but nothing has been finalized.

“There are discussions going on with Nina, we’d love to have her back...These are discussions that go on, hopefully she’ll be back,” Pedowitz said last month (via E! Online). “But should it not work out, Julie [Plec, showrunner] has planned out a great series finale for fans.”

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 premieres Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
