Just as U.S Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime fans had braced themselves for the leaked Dec.8 verizon release date, a new Best Buy ad featuring the phone points to an earlier release date: Sunday.

There's one small catch. Below the picture of the Galaxy Nexus is the tag Nexus Prime, which was the dubbed name on the phone's rumor mill before its official release earlier this month.

This could mean one of three things. Either Verizon Wireless has rebranded the name of the phone as part of its exclusive supplier deal, although this is unlikely as it already announced the phone as the Galaxy Nexus. Best Buy could have simply misprinted the name of the phone, but again the likelihood is low. Slash Gear has suggested Nexus Prime, could be the official redubbing of the phone in the U.S, market. All these suggestions have only led to more confusion.

While Best Buy has not yet commented, fans are gearing up for (Galaxy) Nexus Prime lines as early as this weekend with the fine print reading, prices good for all Best Buy mobile stores from 11/27/11 to 12/25/11″.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime is one of the most anticipated phones of the year. Released in the U.K last Thursday, the U.S release is yet to be officially revealed, leaving fans impatient ahead of the holiday season.

The most recent leak came from thered99.com, which claims Verizon sent an email saying the phone would be launched on Dec.8. Fans flocked to twitter and vented their frustration of not being about to get Black Friday deals on the new phone. No nexus prime for Black Friday. Wait or buy iPhone? Lordtecht tweeted.

The Galax Nexus Prime is the first phone to support the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, which was designed to bridge the gap between Android 2.x and the 3.0 honeycombs. It is currently the closest to a Google phone that we can get.

The latest Samsung phone comes with a dual- core 1.2 GHz Texas Instruments OMAP4460 processor. The screen has a AMOLED 4.65 inch screen with a 720p resolution. Its 8.94mm thinness gives the phone a sleek finish and weighs 135g. The phone comes with16.30 GB of storage and 1GB RAM giving it twice the memory of the iPhone 4S.

Best Buy Nexus Prime ad is clearly wrong. Verizon announced it as Galaxy Nexus. No way they revert to codename, lose month of publicity.
