Lionel Messi broke out of his goalless streak in a big way, scoring the game winner for Barcelona in an important road match against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, 2-1.

Atletico's Fernando Torres got the scoring started in the 55th minute on a breakaway strike off a fine assist from Tiago, but Barcelona came roaring back to silence the crowd at the Vicente Calderon. Four minutes after Torres' goal, Neymar equalized with a gorgeous free-kick strike.

But the final heroics were left for the legendary Argentine forward. In the 77th minute, some trademark Barca passing around the penalty box led to a smooth set up from Luis Suarez to Messi, who drilled a left-footed shot past Jan Oblak for the game winner. Messi had only been on the pitch since the 60th minute, replacing midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

It was the first goal for Messi in La Liga in 2015-2016.

The Barcelona victory means they are still undefeated after three matches. Atletico are in fifth place with six points.
