Playing without a suspended Lionel Messi, Barcelona fought back from an even score and a man down to defeat Sporting Gijon at Camp Nou on Saturday, 3-1

Andres Iniesta scored in the 42nd minute from the center of the box, off the assist from Adriano. It looked like a typical Barcelona victory heading into halftime, but the Catalans would find their backs up against the wall in the second half.

Gerard Pique was immediately shown a red card following a foul outside the box moments after the start of the second whistle. Gijon wasn't able to score on the following free kick, but found the back of the net seconds later.

David Barral's right-footed shot following the cross from Formose Mendy, evened the match for Gijon. It looked like the underdogs had a chance to take one or three points on the road.

Playing a man down, Barcelona still mustered a solid attack. In the 79th minute, Alexis Sanchez found Seydou Keita, whose left-footed curling shot from the right side was simply magnificent.

But Barcelona didn't let up. Iniesta found Xavi in the box in the 87th minute to seal the victory for the Catalans.

Barcelona took 15 shots, with five shots on goal, while Gijon took four shots, with one on goal. The Catalans had possession for 80 percent of the match.
