Neymar scored in the fifth minute, and assisted on Douglas Costa's game winner in the dying moments, as Brazil defeated Peru in a Copa America Group C match a Estadio German Becker in Temuco, Chile, on Sunday, 2-1.

Peru scored in the third minute, with Christian Cuevas delivering a right-footed shot after terrible defending by David Luiz and an equally horrible clearance by goalkeeper Jefferson.

Before Peru can feel comfortable with their lead, Neymar evened the match with a header off an assist from Dani Alves. The cross from one Barcelona star to another was right on target.

But Brazil had many missed opportunities. In the final minutes, Neymar had a chance to score the game winner, but missed wide of the goal. In the 75th minute, Neymar was leading a fast break, and found Costa. But the 24-year-old wasted an ideal opportunity to give Selecao the lead, missing wide with goalkeeper Pedro Gallese off his line.

Costa would redeem himself by scoring in stoppage time. Dribbling along the left side, Neymar found Costa on the right side, and the Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder side-footed a shot past Gallese. It was poor defending by Peru, leaving Costa all alone to score a relatively easy shot.
