‘The View’ Adds Sunny Hostin To The Cast Amid Shakeups; Everything You Need To Know About Her

Sunny Hostin has officially been selected to join the ladies of “The View.” She will be filling the shoes of the many hosts — including Candace Cameron Bure, Rosie O’Donell and more — who came before her.

According to Deadline, Hostin and Jedediah Bila “will appear frequently throughout the season.” ABC News made the announcement today, though it does not appear that either woman will be on the show full time.

So, just who is Hostin? To some, she may be unfamiliar. Born Asunción Cummings, Hostin is a lawyer and journalist. She is a native New Yorker and has appeared on In Session, formerly known as Court TV, ABC News, Fox News and CNN. She is often selected to appear on shows to discuss legal issues, many of which pertain to social justice. While appearing on “The View,” Hostin will continue to serve as senior legal correspondent on ABC News.

Wednesday marked Houstin’s first run as a co-anchor on “The View.” During the episode she and fellow newcomer Bila went head-to-head about bias in the media. Bila expressed her feeling that “the media is largely biased against Republicans.” Hostin, who has become known for her more liberal views, vehemently disagreed, throwing shade at one of her former employers.

“That’s not true. Only if you watch Fox News everyday,” she jabbed (via Newsbuster).

The addition of Bila and Hostin comes months after the cast of “The View” was shaken to it’s core by rumors of major casting changes. In May, Page Six reported that ABC was recasting Raven-Symone. Sources told the publication that the network was “eyeing someone to replace her,” though that person was not named. A rep for the show refuted those claims, calling them “ridiculous.” At the time, ratings were said to be up and ABC was believed to be “happy with the team.” Symoné remains on the show to this day.

Many were quick to believe the rumors due to several controversial comments Symone made during her time on the show as well as the abrupt exit of Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy in Season 17.
