Vikings season 2 episode 2
Will Ragnar ever be able to trust Rollo again? Vikings

Ever since “Vikings” made its Season 2 debut, we’ve been biting our nails in anticipation of what drama will occur in episode 2, “Invasion.” We know what you’re thinking — nothing could be as tragic as “Brother’s War.” Not only did Ragnar and Rollo fight one another in the bloodiest battle we’ve seen thus far, but Ragnar’s home life also took a brutal beating when the Earl’s pregnant mistress, Asluag, paid an unexpected visit to his community.

Remember how Ragnar insisted he was a family man? Well, apparently he’s the biggest one in the game. During episode 1 of the History Channel series, the braided farmer asked his wife, Lagertha, if she’d be open to a polygamous relationship. Needless to say, she said no, which is when she packed her belongings — and her son — into a carriage.

“You’re really going to abandon me without saying a word?” Ragnar said, frustrated.

“You insulted and humiliated me. I have no choice but to leave and divorce you,” she replied.

Yikes. So what can we expect in episode 2? Well, it looks like “Invasion” will take place a few years after Lagertha decided to pick up and move. The reason we say this is the evolution of Bjorn’s character.

From a small, mouthy boy, fans will get to see Bjorn grow up into a strong and handsome man. The grown son of Ragnar will be played by the striking Alexander Ludwig, and from watching the promo of episode 2, we think it’s safe to say that Bjorn not only inherited his father’s good looks, but his dad’s confidence and warrior skills. Oh, yeah — Bjorn will be battling it out in episode 2. And it looks like he’ll be fighting alongside his mother!

And why are mother and son fighting in a war? Well, it might have something to do with the title, “Invasion.”

“The Northerners have come ashore,” we hear a voice say in the promo for episode 2. Ragnar and his men are clearly looking to raid, but will they cross the wrong people? Scenes of ruthless attacks scattered throughout the trailer for “Invasion” make us think they do.

The official synopsis for episode 2 reads that “the time has come for an unlikely alliance to band together for a new raid on England.” Could that be referring to Ragnar and Rollo? In the promo we hear Ragnar ask his brother why he should ever trust him again. “Because I ask you to,” the former traitor said. We know Ragnar spared his brother’s life with a bribe, but will he be willing to fight alongside the man who wanted his blood?

“A storm pushes the Viking fleet to a new destination” where Ragnar and his men will ultimately meet their match. Interesting. Could the brother's be fighting against Ragnar's ex-wife and son?
