As “The Voice” Season 10 enters its next stage, the knockouts, even the coaches are starting to feel the heat of competition. As a result, when one of the panel members made a bold fashion choice ahead of Monday’s episode, his rival coach was more than ready to pounce on Twitter.

As fans of “The Voice” have no doubt noticed, coach Adam Levine recently dyed his hair blond. To usher in the knockout rounds, the Maroon 5 singer revealed he’d further dyed his hair pink. He even posted a photo of the new look on Instagram. The move is in keeping with his propensity for bold hair choices, having shaved himself bald during Season 9.

“The Voice” is marked by talented singers, bold song covers and the playful rivalry between Levine and Blake Shelton. After coaching Jordan Smith all the way to the big win last season, Levine now has three victories under his belt, putting him in prime position to tie with Shelton’s four wins in Season 10. With bragging rights on the line, Shelton decided he wasn’t going to let Levine's fashion statement go unanswered. To mess with his co-star, the country singer took to Twitter and posted a series of famous characters that sport pink hair alongside the artist’s Instagram picture during Monday’s first round of knockouts.

It makes sense for Shelton and Levine to be in such direct competition as they’re the only members of the coaching panel that have remained consistent throughout all 10 runs of the NBC singing competition. In fact, they’ll keep that trajectory going in Season 11 when current coaches Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera bow out. It was previously reported that Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys would be the replacements in the next season. Together, they’ll hear blind auditions and slowly build up and send home members of their respective teams until only one coach’s artist is crowned the winner.

Sadly, there’s no telling at this time if Cyrus or Keys will be as vocal about making fun of the competition as Shelton and Levine seem to be.

Fans can tune in to “The Voice” Season 10 knockout rounds on Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT to see if Levine comes closer to edging out Shelton for a tie.
