An ad for the second season of The Walking Dead has revealed what appears to be a very intense spoiler. One of the series' stars is set to meet a gruesome, flesh-biting death.

AMC's Web site has offered fans of the show the opportunity to pre-order a limited edition Blu-ray set of the bloody, brain crunching second season. The ad for the offer has set off a theory that the character Shane, played by Jon Bernthal, will not make it out the zombie-infested world alive.

The product description revealed the spoiler: ...bonus features such as: the making of the barn, an extended zombie guy scene, Shane's last episode...

For fans of the The Walking Dead comics, Shane's impending demise isn't that much of a surprise. The comics, created by Robert Kirkman, killed off Shane early in the series. In volume one of the comics, Days Gone By, Shane attempts to kill Rick, but is shot in the neck by Rick's son, Carl. Choking on his own blood, Shane dies.

Other rumors fueling Bernthal's departure from the show stem from former Walking Dead show runner, Frank Darabont. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bernthal has been linked to Darabont's latest pilot for TNT, L.A. Noir.

Last Sunday's episode 10 had viewers worried that Rick might meet his end soon. After getting into a physical fight with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) over Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and the running of the group, the two men turned to weapons to settle their differences. The fight only stopped when a swarm of zombies or walkers came after the men. At one point viewers feared that Rick might abandon Shane, who was stuck in a school bus surrounded by walkers.

Shane managed to survive last week's adventure, but with only a few more episodes left in the second season only time will tell when and how Shane will meet his death.
