Walking Dead
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) must convince the Alexandria survivors to fight another group in episode 12 of "The Walking Dead." AMC

Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group has never been one to shy away from trouble. Time after time they’ve defended themselves from outside threats. But while they’ve always attempted to play the “hero” role, the tables will turn during episode 12 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

This past Sunday newcomer Jesus (Tom Payne) introduced the Alexandria survivors to the Hilltop Colony. The settlement has its own farming system, livestock and fresh produce – all desirable and luxury items for Rick and the others. Although the Hilltop leader, Gregory (Xander Berkeley), wasn’t willing to negotiate trade without some labor involved, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) was able to come up with a solution to gain more supplies. The Alexandria people would kill a mysterious man named Negan and his group called the Saviors.

According to Gregory and Jesus, Negan and the Saviors have been tormenting their people. The Saviors demand food and supplies, and in exchange they promise not to kill or hurt any of their people. However, their demands have been growing, and the Hilltop Colony does not have the means to fight back. That’s where Rick’s gang comes in.

The synopsis for episode 12, titled “Not Tomorrow Yet,” teases that Rick and the others realize that “the only way to maintain the peace of Alexandria is to fight a new enemy.” The only problem is that they “might be outmatched.”

“These Saviors, sooner or later they would have found us,” Rick tells the Alexandria survivors in a promo video for episode 12. “Then they would try to own us. We have to come for them before they come for us.”

It doesn’t look like everyone agrees with Rick, though. Jesus gives Glenn (Steven Yeun) a quick glance during Rick’s speech. Morgan (Lennie James) doesn’t look pleased either. Attacking the Saviors, no matter how evil they might be, goes against his code of living.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the Alexandria people have a choice in the matter.
“We have to win, it’s how we keep this place,” he encourages the survivors. “It’s how we feed this place… we’re going to have to fight.”

Episode 12 of “The Walking Dead” airs on AMC on Sunday, March 6 at 9 p.m. EST.
