"The Walking Dead" Season 6 will feature more of Morgan (Lennie James). A new poster even puts him at the front of the series facing off against Rick (Andrew Lincoln). AMC

Although Season 6 of “The Walking Dead” is still a long way away, fans were treated to their first look at the upcoming zombie drama following last season’s immense cliffhanger. A new poster for the show seems to indicate that the survivors may have found a villain in their newest member, not an ally.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the poster was released ahead of the hit AMC series’ appearance at San Diego Comic-Con in July. It features both Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan (Lennie James) front and center. However, the artwork seems to suggest a divide between the two former episode one buddies.

With Rick’s typical group standing behind him with the heavy wall in the background it seems to indicate that factions will form in Season 6. Standing opposite the group is Morgan leading the people from Alexandria standing in front of their pristine white picket fence homes. It looks like fans will get to see the former prison survivors going toe-to-toe with Morgan leading the soft suburb-living Alexandria survivors… and whatever you’d call Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).

It almost goes without saying that if Morgan and Rick find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict, it will hardly be the reunion fans were hoping for. Morgan was the one who explained to Rick that the world ended in the first episode of the series. He popped up again in Season 3 but was a little too crazy with grief to join the group properly. [SPOILER ALERT] He had his triumphant return as a zen stick-wielding survivor at the end of Season 5. Daryl (Norman Reedus) brought him back to the rest of the group at Alexandria just in time to see his old friend execute someone.

After the Season 5 cliffhanger, many were wondering if James would be a continued presence in the show, since he’s been so on-and-off in the past. E! Online reports that the actor revealed that he’ll return for at least one episode in Season 6 but remained tight-lipped about any involvement in the series beyond that. However, his prime placement in the newest Comic-Con poster seems to indicate that he’ll have a bigger role than just one episode in Season 6.
