Stocks rose slightly at the open on Wednesday, the day after U.S. President Barack Obama called for a lower corporate tax rate to boost the economy, but gains in the Dow were limited after results from Boeing.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dipped 0.87 points, or 0.01 percent, to 11,976.32. The S&P 500 <.SPX> rose 2.74 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,293.92. The Nasdaq Composite <.IXIC> gained 6.10 points, or 0.22 percent, to 2,725.35.
